Free P.O.I's progs ????
Hi all, couldn't see this mentioned anywhere, appologies if it has, I'm looking for a free prog to cover P.O.I.'s ( points of interest ) for TomTom 5 on the XDA IIi, the prog should have speed camereas and speed limits, ( if poss ) I've googled and looked at a few but the general feeling is that some are unstable.
Does anyone use know of one and a link please.
TIA
P.S. I know I can set P.O.I's within TT5 itself but was looking for something to intergrate with the data pre-loaded

Re: Free P.O.I's progs ????
i use checkPOInt. forget its URL but you can download it from www.pocketgps.co.uk , off the same page as their speed camera database - it's the program they recommend to keep the DB updated

Are you using version 5.0.2 of the poi place software
plus have you seen this
CheckPOInt 5.0.2 for Pocket PC 2002/Windows Mobile 2003
(August 11, 2005; 320 KB; supports ARM and XSCALE processors)
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
Some users find that TomTom Navigator 5 (TTN 5) hangs after they've installed CheckPOInt 5 on their Pocket PC.
If this is the case with your TTN 5 installation, please upgrade it to TomTom Navigator 5.1.
CheckPOInt 5 was created with use of the software development kit (SDK) for TTN 5, and apparently it is required to upgrade TomTom Navigator to version 5.1 before applications created with this SDK can run smoothly.
You can download the upgrade for TomTom Navigator via these links:
- EXE file: http://www.tomtom.com/updates/ppcupd510.exe
- ZIP file: http://www.tomtom.com/updates/ppcup510.zip
OTHER IMPORTANT NOTE
Those of you who already installed version 5.0.1 may get a warning message when they install version 5.0.2, telling you that the file "CheckPOIntToday.dll" is in use and can not be overwritten or removed. This file concerns the Today screen plug-in of CheckPOInt.
You can ignore this message. It does not impact the installation of CheckPOInt 5.0.2 in any way.
Simply press the "No" button when the installation process asks if it should try again to overwrite this file.

Re: Free P.O.I's progs ????
oh, apologies i gave you the wrong program. i meant the program POI-edit. what it does is connects to that website and downloads the speed camera database, and then updates the POIs automatically on your tomtom. then when you go into POI settings you can set alarms when you are say 500yds away from a speed camera.
