TV working but everything else doesn't

Not a major problem but interested to know if anyone has an answer and whether I should do anything about it. Our STB works fine for TV and Movies on Demand but all the 'extra' services (Email, Shopping, blue button etc) don't work - if we choose them, we get the 'This service is not currently available' message. Additionally, we only have one green light on the front of the STB, occassionally the second green light comes on and blinks for an hour or so and then disappears. On 'Diagnostics', the return path is off. Anyone know what's causing this? - my friend in another area of London permanently has both green lights on and all services work.

The STB can't lock onto it's return path connection for some reason...

could be a problem with the box, signal strength, cabling, or an issue at the street cabinet...

If you contact Telewest they should book you an engineer to have a look

Cheers for that - I'll call them when I get a chance - not desperate to wait in all day as I normally have done!

Is the STB well ventilated?

Re: TV working but everything else doesn't

Yes - it's on top of the VCR (which is never on) and open to the air - doesn't feel particularly warm but I'll move it anyway and see if it makes a difference - thanks for the advice. It's been like this ever since I had broadband installed which means that the incoming cable runs via a splitter - I'm sure it's reduced signal strength or something.
