TV and video senders?

Hi

I am looking at getting another tv to put upstairs but as my cable will be installed downstairs i wanted to find out instead of trying to run a cable upstairs (which i dont think our landlord would appreciate) I wanted to find out if this would tv & video sender would do. would i be able to watch two different channels (on my ntl service) or just be able to view one and change the channel.

Re: TV and video senders?

You will only be able to watch one channel at a time.

Not sure about the remote control sending. It depends on which NTL box you have and what the tv sender is capable of.

You'd need to return NTL's stolen property to them, and then ask if they could supply you with a legitimate second STB for £15 a month.

Don't buy an STB off ebay - there is no legitimate way of getting it to work on NTL. Each STB needs to be registered with NTL before it will connect to their network.

With a video sender, you can watch the terrestial channels through the UHF bypass (standard aerial) downstairs while watching the NTL digital channels upstairs. Otherwise both TV's watch the same digital channel.

The other alternative, assuming there is a decent aerial and aerial point upstairs, is freeview.

Re: TV and video senders?

I have used a DIgiSender for several years now with both a FreeView receiver and with 2 ntl boxes. It works well - the picture quality is very good and I don't need wires. I use a universal remote upstairs which works fine with the Samsung box. When I had the old Pace box I used to use a redeye adaptor (free to anyone who wants one - I don't need it now). You have to watch out if you use a wireless (WIFI) network at home as they can conflict. To get around this, I use higher WiFi channels and I don't get interference. Bluetooth can also interfere. Recommend trying one from Argos so you can take it back if it doesn't suit.
