What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

So, what will you be cooking this Chriustmas?

Big roast here.

I do love chestnuts so will be doing some tossed in butter with brussel sprouts, some parsnips, and red cabbage.

I do quite like making salmon blinis with dill too.

What is on your menu this year?

Re: What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

Mrs Russ cooks and sells Sunday roasts so she’ll be taking care of all that stuff. Mostly likely tradition turkey as along as she acts a bit lively when adding her secret-recipe award-winning (they haven’t won any real awards, I just think they’re amazing) roast potatoes. I’m expecting to be in a food coma for the rest of the day.

Re: What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

Traditional Christmas meal ,like thanksgiving, I strongly dislike both ! Put up with them, for peace and quiet. If left to me it would be a tomahawk and salad ! Couldn't cope with creamed potatoes with it !

Re: What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

I will be cooking Jam Tarts ..... on Xmas Eve, as I always do.

My wife will be cooking the usual Christmas dinner - Turkey, Roast Potatoes, Mash, Brussels, Cauliflower, Stuffing, Pigs in Blankets etc.
My Mum will be over for dinner, as will the daughter that doesnt live here (with my grandson). The Grandaughter lives here, with her mum.

I'm not sure yet. I hope to make chicken quarters, legs, roast potatoes, seasoned veg, possibly some rice.

Re: What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

It'll be traditional Turkey here at my parents place in Wales, although as parents are getting older now it'll be done at Sisters place from now on to make it easier for them. I don't cook so I just eat....

Re: What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

Turkey crown
Leg of lamb
Beef (possibly sirloin on the bone I don’t know what my wife has ordered)

I’ll probably do my usual which is stuff myself with prawns and salmon , share a couple of G&T’s and a bottle of wine with my father in law and then fall asleep on a sofa whilst everyone else has dinner (eleven people coming this year)

Re: What is on the menu for Christmas this year?

The largest turkey crown I can get for Christmas day with all the trimmings. So enough to live on for 3-4 days afterwards as there's only my wife and I. Usually do a glazed ham for cold meats as well. And I'll be doing a roast leg of lamb with demerara and English mustard glaze for New Years day. I sure will be in my element cooking it all.

Has anyone done a Beef Wellington? I quite fancy trying to make one of those over Christmas.
