In the UK the main 24 hours rolling news channel, is BBC and Sky News. However, GB News is set to launch very soon and today have announced they are hiring. Here’s their logo:

It's going to be interesting to see how this channel can make money. Sky News is a loss-leader. I guess there may be more of a focus on commentary and discussion and less on live reporting from across the globe.

There have been accusations that this new channel will be far right haven, however, it’s chairman, Andrew Neil says it won’t be an echo chamber for either left or right.

News is regulated by Ofcom so it shouldn't go down the US route.

I am not sure if it's going to be heavily partisan but I do think they're going to lean into what makes American news networks profitable and that's outrage mongering and polarising debates. It's going to be people shouting at each other, clips of people being 'owned' by each other and it will make it's money by trying to further divide up our politics into two or more tribes all convinced the others are **** and legitimate enemies of the people.

The kind of journalism where a team of professionally trained journalists spend weeks, months even years rooting out a story is not profitable. Nor is paying someone to sit in court for weeks and getting a handful of articles at the end of it. Instead you can just get grifting imbeciles to shout at each other for segment after segment and watch the clicks roll in.

Sky News, no mention of Ireland in either of the current News channel names.
