WiFi / Lan speeds.

I have a reasonably large difference in download speeds between a Wifi and Wired connection.

My main PC is a wired connection and gets on average 430Mbps where my iMac on a Wifi connection gets on average 520Mbps when using speediest dot net.

I am not complaining though as this is pretty good but i always thought a wired connection gave best results.

FYI.....
My PC is a high spec machine with Gigabit LAN using hight quality Ethernet cables.

Re: WiFi / Lan speeds.

It could be a piece of kit dragging the wired down.

You can verify your PC and wiring using iPerf (https://iperf.fr/). Plug both Mac and PC into the router using ethernet and then run the iperf server on one and client on the other and then swap to verify. You can also run this on your Android/iOS device to check your WiFi speeds as well.

This will rule out the VM part (apart from the router )

Re: WiFi / Lan speeds.

It will be very interesting to see the opera results when both machines are wired.

It may also be worth noting what is running in the background on both machines.
