Damn cheek by supermarket chains
http://news.sky.com/story/unilever-r...tesco-10615193
I think that there is a sign of greed on the part of Tesco.
I never shop in Tesco as they are too expensive. I can get much of the stuff that l want to buy in other chains.
Unilever has already said that, its not the price on the shelf - its Tesco. Unilever said they wants to 'wholesale price'
Its like a car - the manufacturer sells to the dealer for 20 grand. And the dealer puts his price on it. Simple

Re: Damn cheek by supermarket chains
Or as according to another article (think it's on the BBC), Tesco didn't want to be the first retailer to pass on increased costs to the consumer and blame it on 'brexit' which ultimately will lead to the floodgates opening.
Competitive things supermarket price wars.

Re: Damn cheek by supermarket chains
Of course this could be a falsehood by an organisation that is a frustrated remainer. Expect plenty more of this rubbish.

Re: Damn cheek by supermarket chains
The Dutch boss of Unilever actually told his workers to vote against leaving the EU.
Ah well, back to work in the Welsh Pot Noodle mines ....

Regardless of the reasoning, there will be price increases, it will be blamed on "Brexit' , and we will all pay the increased costs.
Businesses aren't going to lose out
I don't think those who are already struggling will find this (if and when it happens) rubbish, do you?

Re: Damn cheek by supermarket chains
Regardless of the motives, there'll be more of this to come just as has happened, for example, when oil prices have gone through the roof in the past. It's nothing new but we'll all be looking for equivalent price reductions from the companies concerned when Sterling bounces back and be able to draw our own conclusions if they're not forthcoming.
