Jesus DIDN’T ascend to Heaven?

A GEOLOGIST claims to have found conclusive evidence that Jesus Christ was buried in Jerusalem, throwing many of the teachings of the Bible into doubt.

It's a story that comes round from time to time. Dan Brown got quite rich off a version of it.

Personally, I find it unlikely that all bar one of Jesus' closest friends and followers would have happily undergone trial and execution for refusing to renounce a faith they knew to be false.

Christians never say he wasn't buried. We claim that he was but that the tomb was found empty.

It is likely that the borrowed tomb was then used "properly" at a later date. The early Christians wouldn't either want or be able to make it a shrine and preserve it.

Not the first time this theme has raised it's head and usually there's a person with an agenda behind it. Everyone has a choice what if any faith they wish to follow I'd just prefer some people and groups leave people to it rather then be destructive or feeling the need to undermine at the drop of a hat.

Not saying jesus or religion is not up for debate as long as it's decent debate that doesn't end up attacking people and their beliefs or lack of them and you rarely see that type of debate far more common to see the antagonistic sort.

THere's no proof that Jesus even existed. some say he's just another Shrek. Superman. The Hulk.

We know that God doesn't exist so there's a clue.

If he didn't exist why didn't those that opposed and oppressed Christianity 2000 years ago simply say "this man never even lived". I think it's pretty much universally accepted by scholars and academics that 2000 years ago a man called Jesus was at least wandering about, was baptised and crucified, where they differ is if they believe he was the son of God or just a man with a message, still don't let that get in the way of you belittling other people's beliefs, I'm sure you'll find solace in the fact they're going to forgive you and maybe even pray for you.

Well it started OK, an oft repeated statement from some expert that they've found Jesus' tomb proving something that discredits the Christian faith.

To me it worthy of debate because the Bible itself states (paraphrasing) if Jesus didn't rise from the dead then the whole Christian faith is pointless. But the article itself doesn't make sensible conclusions - even if Jesus' tomb was found (or the borrowed tomb He used) the body is still missing. An empty tomb is a key foundation of the Christian faith, Jesus died, was buried and rose again. Whether you believe that yourself or no, it is what Christians believe. Many others have tried to disprove the resurrection and some have even become Christians as their research showed it to be true.

One review on Amazon (paraphrasing again) would sum up both, if you believe you will agree with what's written. If you are enquiring they are good, accessible sources of information for one side. If you want they are easy to ridicule.
