Subtitles on 3D movies

Just watching Jungle Book in 3D. Is it possible to get subtitles to work with this?

Re: Subtitles on 3D movies

The only way subtitles would work with 3D content is if it was part of the video, rather than generated by your V box or TiVo.

Saying that, currently you can only get subtitles in On Demand content via apps such as Netflix or iPlayer on TiVo.

I can't see why 3D + subtitles couldn't work on TiVo. TiVo knows to show the timebar in half width when it's in 3D mode (so you only see it in your left eye). The same scaling could be applied to the subtitles. Who knows, it might support this already - if only we had some subtitled movies.

Re: Subtitles on 3D movies

Fair enough. I wasn't actually aware TiVo did that as it's been ages since I've watched any 3D content.

Re: Subtitles on 3D movies

Interesting, I have never been able to get subtitles to work on any On Demand 3D movies and it didn't work on this one when pressing the sub titles button.

I am not sure if you can buy the Jungle Book DVD in 3D with sub titles though. is it possible the subtitles are not broadcast via the Tivo on VM?

Googling mentioned that you can download the subtitles as an SRT/sub. file????

Yes, this. We have a general issue getting subtitles added to On Demand content. So I'd expect any lack of subtitles to be due to this rather than being something 3D-specific.

I was just speculating that if the VOD servers could provide subtitles, the TiVo wouldn't preclude them being shown on 3D-content. It definitely wouldn't work on the V+ and V-HD boxes - you'd get the left-half the subtitles in the left eye and the right-half in the right.
