Webspace problem - unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com
Hi all
I received a letter saying I need to remove the contents from my old ntlworld webspace at risk of losing it when they switch off at the end of this month.
I've tried FileZilla and LeechFTP but I'm unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com but it's just kicking me straight off - no prompt for username/password even through Windows or a web browser.
Does anyone else still use their ntlworld webspace? Any idea what I might be doing wrong? All I've done is enter the full link and try connect on port 21.
~ Connecting...
~ Connected to upload.ntlworld.com, waiting for response...
~ Could not login to upload.ntlworld.com
All happens instantaneously.
Thanks in advance!

I can still access my old ntlworld.com webspace from the browser. (FF 45.0.1) and view the files. (Mostly jpegs) It could be that they've blocked people from uploading as it's due to close soon?

Re: Webspace problem - unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com
Thanks for the reply.
I can view the webpage/site too but can't connect to the upload site. I have a home.htm (I think) which means I can't view the file/folder structure (I think).
That would be funny; they sent me a letter advising me to remove the files if I wanted to keep them!

Re: Webspace problem - unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com
I used to use the CLI ftp program to "put" files to the upload server, add directories and navigate them. I'm on the W7 lappy at the moment but I'll give it try tomorrow to see if I can still access it that way but I think it's unlikely.
As someone who cut their computer teeth on UNIX I'm comfortable with the command line.

Re: Webspace problem - unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com
Just tried ftp CLI on the lappy, still works OK:
Obviously I've blurred the detail. Would't want everybody to know the "real" me.

i think you can only connect ftp if you are actually on virgin's network at the time of connection

Correct. FTP access in 'on-net' only.

Re: Webspace problem - unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com
I have been unable to connect to my web page
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/derek.hawthorne/
I am getting a message that it is unavailable.
Ihave been on withh Virgin Media and went through routine with him having control of my computer. He said all he was getting was a blank screen at his end so he transferred me to someone else same procedure as above. He said he would rin me back in half an hour and that was a few days ago.
I never received any letter from Virgin.
Where do I go from here.?
Have I lost my webspace?
If not sorted Virgin will lose me.
Thanks, in advance, for any help given

Re: Webspace problem - unable to connect to upload.ntlworld.com
All Virgin Media webspace services were shut last week, so you'll need to transfer your backed-up webspace files to a new provider.
The closure was a month after it was originally communicated it would close and two months since the letters went out to most webspace users.
