Labour leopards never change their spots...
Quote:
A Labour MP campaigning for the UK to remain in the EU has apologised after being recorded calling a voter a "horrible racist".
Shadow Europe minister Pat Glass made the comments after an interview with BBC Radio Derby in Sawley, Derbyshire.
She said: "The very first person I come to is a horrible racist. I'm never coming back to wherever this is."
She later said the comments were "inappropriate" but UKIP said it showed "contempt" for people's concerns.

Same old nasty Labour eh, taking a leaf out of Brown's guide to hypocrisy. However, conveniently, later she said:
Quote:
"Concerns about immigration are entirely valid and it's important that politicians engage with them.
"I apologise to the people living in Sawley for any offence I have caused."
|
I'm sure the apology is totally sincere and is in no way a true reflection of the way in which she views public concerns about mass migration...

Re: Labour leopards never change their spots...
If anyone can name me a realistic political party in the UK that deserves anyone's vote I'll be completely stunned they are all a shambles out for nothing but their vested interests and have no problem screwing and our nation over to do it. My confidence in politicians isn't at a low ebb it's nonexistent I never thought the time would come when I viewed a vote as a waste but I do now and I'm not alone.

This was in my local rag yesterday and yes it is typical of Labour ,more worryingly though is this statement from Glass
Quote:
“Even if we leave the European Union – whether we stay or we leave – we have to have a deal with Europe and it will include free movement of people.”
|
does that mean that even if we vote to leave the politicians are planning on forcing free movement on us anyway?

If we want to remain in the single market then we may well have to accept freedom of movement, Gove however said we won't seek to stay in the single market.
It's 'on the table' so to speak. I believe Norway has to accept it for example.

Re: Labour leopards never change their spots...
It will all be part of the negotiation that we will hopefully be starting soon and I know with what we have been subjected to in the last few weeks it's easy to think all the ace's are up the EU's sleeve but the UK has a strong position. Trade is a weapon the remain camp have been employing a lot as an example of how leaving the EU will damage the UK but that's being a little disingenuous as the UK doesn't just sell to the EU we are a large importer of EU goods and the company's that deal with the UK are not at all interested in losing access to the UK.
Negotiations will be long and no doubt complicated but a deal that continues to benefit both sides is preferable for everyone and the most likely outcome as the EU is not going to want to compete all the time with the UK for inward investment. Of course the UK needs to have competent and professional people doing the negotiations and at the minute that could be difficult to obtain given the recent demonstrations.

Given how many U turns this particular party in power has had, I could just imagine if we leave the EU that we'd somehow negotiate something worse than staying in the EU - wheeeeeeeee

I would be strongly cautious about evaluating Norway's deal. Remember their politicians tried to steamroll them into the EU and were denied by a referendum. The politicians, accordingly, basically went in for a deal that had many of the costs of membership as that's where they were convinced the country was going.

Some interesting (and the usual insulting) comments on her twitter and facebook pages. No sign of any contrition there when I last looked though. Maybe she's doing a Red Ken and keeping her head down.
Anyway it's a good job we get to find out what people like her really think. It'd be awful to vote for someone who really despises you and where you come from eh...

I just don't see how anyone can be a "horrible racist" when they are simply concerned that some immigrants are entering the country and sitting on welfare ,we have enough of our own citizens doing that ,we don't want foreigners doing it and if she can't see that then she doesn't belong in politics

Because some have managed to frame the debate on immigration in such a way that unless your fully supportive of unchecked migration your a xenophobic little islander racist it's a fantastic way to make sure very few stick their heads above the parapet and attempt to have a rational debate on the issue. Watching the BBC this morning at a friend's and it was on about the children on their own at the Calais camp with people saying the UK should take responsibility for some of them, it just never ends and then the same people who dislike any debate wonder when resentment and frustration increases.

Re: Labour leopards never change their spots...
Has Corbyn had anything to say about this? I reckon he'd have plenty to say if some Tory toff had said such a thing.
This really is typical Labour laid bare once again. They claim to be the party of the ordinary man in the street but just can't help themselves and evidently find it rather too hard to hide their loathing.

Re: Labour leopards never change their spots...
Given everything that has happened recently and the demonstration of utter incompetence by all politicians perhaps it's time for us the public to get off the artificial merry go round and stop following a single colour of politics. If we now haven't got the message that change is necessary and very needed we never will but after this referendum is over most people will forget how embarrassing this period has been and return to what has become our political reality. I honestly wish I had the money to start a political party as sadly these days a cause or idea without money is a non starter and has no chance of achieving anything.
