Superhub vh2
Have just been sent this. I believe my previous Superhub was an early incarnation of the Superhub 2. Is this new one the SH 3 that is talked about on the other long thread?
Back when I first got the SH2 there were recommendations for a few things to turn off or change in settings. Off the top of my head the only thing I remember was shutting off the firewall, but I know there were a couple more tweaks.
Are there any similar recommendations with this one? I'm not very tech oriented so be gentle with me. I've not connected it yet as wanted to ask the question first.
My first item on my agenda is renaming the network and password. With the 2 gh levels this will be a bit of an inconvenience as it won't be a simple case of making exactly the same as current one, so re-setting all our bits and the few people who visit regularly and connect. On the other hand if it means dropping out less and rebooting less that would be a decent trade-off.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your help. If there's a specific post to posts in the longer thread I should look at please let me know.

Re: Superhub vh2
What does the router look like and what colour is it?
If it is the SH 2AC then it looks just like the regular SH2. I think the SH3 is white.

No, nothing other than the regular stuff like setting up separate wifi SSID's and security/speed settings to your preference.
All the hubs (SH1/2/2ac/3) are pretty much the same in respect of the general settings (even though the GUI's are a bit different). I have all those hubs.
The only exception being that if you want to get a Thinkbroadband BQM running on the SH3 you need to turn the firewall off.
Btw, if you want to use the port-forward feature on the SH3 (e.g. for gaming) then you need to keep it on.

Re: Superhub vh2
Thanks everyone, sorry been offline for the weekend. No, it's not white, and now that I've finally got it setup, when I log in it shows as a Superhub2 on the login screen. So I suspect it's an upgraded version to the one I had previously then? (or maybe I had the original superhub and thought it was a 2 - I know it wasn't the very first one, maybe that was an upgraded first version?)
When I applied for the free speed upgrade they said I needed to upgrade my equipment and sent this out. I'm glad they did, as the old one was getting a bit touchy anyway. The option to choose from the two bands (rather than have it set to one or the other) is handy, and I've reset my SSID's and passwords to personal ones (first thing I did).
Thanks for the responses, and sorry I seemed to have disappeared. I appreciate all the help the members here give

A SH2 is definitely an upgrade to a SH1.

You had a Superhub 1 before, as it only has one radio and you can't have both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands on at the same time, like you can with a SH2/2ac/3.

Whatever it is, put it in modem mode and use your own router for a quiet life...

Thanks, so far, so good. I'm even getting speeds of up to 100 on my iPad and iPhone. Previously would average around 40. So touch wood, all happy here for the time being
