Youview

Got a Youview box at Christmas and have to say I'm very impressed. Cancelled my SKY Multiroom subscription and use the Youview box in the bedroom.

I bought the BT DTR-T2110 500GB Youview+ HD model from Argos for £149.99. Design wise it's not a thing of beauty but the menus are slick and easy to use, the EPG is pretty quick and catch up and on demand is not too shabby.

For us the real bonus is the free catch up content from iPlayer, ITV Hub, STV Player, All 4, Demand 5, UKTV and Quest. Similar to Tivo, Youview has a scroll back TV option allowing you to catch up on programs showing the catch up icon. This works very well indeed. Usually the content has started to play within 10 seconds of pushing the play button.

Another plus is being able to access Netflix through the box. Compared to the Netflix app on my Smart TV the Youview version is like lightening.

All in it's a pretty good PVR. I'd give it 7.5/10

Plus points:

* Pretty quick and responsive
* Great selection of free on demand and catch up content
* Scroll back TV works great
* You can hide channels from the EPG
* The Youview app works very well
* Not too complex, pretty easy to use straight from the box

Set backs:

* The design of the box isn't pretty
* You can't change how the channels are listed on the EPG
* You can't add padding to the start or end of your recordings

Anyone else have Youview? What do you think of it?
