New Connection - Stats OK?
Hi all,
Been a while since I've had a VM connection so I'm a bit rusty, so wanted to see what you guys thought of these. 16 downstreams, does that mean I'm on one of the shiny new CMTS'?

I would go so far as to say they are perfect. Have you ran any speedtests yet? If you are on a new cmts I would love to see what the load on it/congestion is like.

He will be on a new Arris CMTS seeing he has 16 downstreams.

Many Max out every time, really impressed.
Even this time of night... http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4977484234
Highest I've seen is 211, but I'm not going to complain over 5Meg. Think my flatmate is watching Netflix so that's probably where the few meg is going anyway

Re: New Connection - Stats OK?
Not entirely related but this made me chuckle. I was talking to one of the guys behind Think Broadband and he remarked that Virgin Media's expansion is quite easy to spot as VM customers like doing speed tests.
Having seen one poster on this forum describe themselves as an 'avid speed tester' I see what he means

Re: New Connection - Stats OK?
Haha, I wouldn't say I was an "avid" speed tester but I do like to keep track of how well the area is doing, and make sure I'm getting somewhere near what I'm paying for.
But then again we've never had issues with congestion in my area, one of the network techs once told me it's one of the biggest / most invested part of the network (after London I suspect)

Worth noting that there are still "known issues" with 9.1.88j5 firmware on the OP's Arris Hub 3 and an observant reader will notice that it appears to duplicate "levels" on both u/s channels (in addition to possible rounding issue viz 43.8 and not 43.75 in 0.25 increments?).
Admittedly that's perhaps not obvious unless you happen to be running 8x2(4) Hub and 16(24) x 2(8) Hub concurrently on same connection with same TCS bonding channels.
eg last time I checked my Hub3: was 46.3 x 64QAM on both and SH2AC was 47.0 and 45.50 on same 45.8MHz and 27.4MHz 64QAM channels which co-incidentally(?) is same 46.25 (rounded to 46.3) average?
One of many trivial "coincidences" anomalies between the Hubs that some sad users like me tend to notice after waiting 3 boring months for next firmware release!

Re: New Connection - Stats OK?
Yep, hopefully the new firmware will fix a lot of these issues!
Any idea if that will just go to the trialists or anyone with a hub 3 horsey?

Re: New Connection - Stats OK?
I hope so!
I can't seem to find anywhere to allow WAN pings on this new hub, am I being blind or is it not possible?

No option there yet, you need to turn the firewall off for that to work.
