TiVo RF Output

Probably a daft question, but to cut a long story short I've moved to a new house which has RF type TV points in various rooms connected up. I have a scart to RF device already so was able (presumably)to output from my Tivo into the RF socket, but when I connected my TV in another room I wasn't sure what input source I should be using. Anyone done anything similar, and able to offer advise?

Do an analogue channel scan on the TV. It should find the output of the modulator as a channel, probably channel number 1.

But are you sure the points are connected for this purpose? More commonly they'd all be fed from an aerial.

Unless you have a master faceplate in the lounge like this:

it is unlikely the setup will be wired correctly for you to distribute RF around the house. A bog standard aerial distribution system will be deliberately designed to prevent signals going between room sockets, with the path of least resistance being at the aerial input at the top of the house, which will also be where the amplifier (if there is one) is situated.

If it is like the image attached, connect your RF output to the socket marked "return". You should then find an amplifier (usually in a cupboard) that will distribute the signal to the other sockets.

You're probably right actually. Originally we were told our TiVo picture would be distributed around the house but VM have changed something to prevent this. I was hoping they would still be connected but sounds not. There's no aerial either although I'm guessing I can add something in the loft otherwise lots of TV points doing nothing

Who told you the picture would be distributed, and how? VM wouldn't have touched aerial cabling in your house.

The house builder told us this. In fact at another site they built this happened, and I quote "Virgin Media have added a device to their boxes that prevents the signal being transferred to other TV points throughout the property"
That's why I thought if I can get a signal into the socket it might appear elsewhere.
The double whammy is we had a 2nd box but no cabling allowed on the new house so I can't use it.

Sounds like you spoke the builder's Making Things Up department. The first part is unlikely, and the second is definitely untrue.

A wireless video sender is probably your best best.

I dont know about adding a device. They have removed one (the RF output), but then that started way back when the Samsung V+ came out. With analogue TV now a thing of the past it is now the case with other providers boxes as well.

Ha ha I know what you mean by builders stories although they were insistent this happened on their previous development, but of course I'm using the same box so they haven't done anything there. I did get this to work very successfully in my old house. I tried a video sender there and wasn't very successful

If you've now got a typical new build house, the walls are probably plasterboard, which is good for wireless transmission. Brick, stone and plastering mesh are bad.

Sorry if I am asking in the wrong subject as this is my first question.

I currently have a Sky box but I want to change to a Tivo box. The problem is that I have two other TV's in the house and I read on the internet where someone has linked their Sky Box into the Tivo box via the scart output and is using their Sky Box to transmit an RF signal to their TV's from the Tivo both to their TV's.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this? I am not asking for being able to change channels purely just an RF output to show on the other two TV's. Has anyone any idea if this is possible?

You can do this with an old VCR. Not sure you can with a Sky box, as there is no reason it needs to modulate a signal from an outside source.
