Teenager using internet late at night
Hi all
Is there any way of automatically turning off wifi between certain hours as my 13 year old daughter is watching Youtube etc late at night on her Ipad/Iphone. She has been told but she appears very sleepy in the morning !
Would like to set timing from 2130 - 0500 hrs
Virgin Super hub 2
Did think about simply unplugging it but house phone is a VOP one.
Would appreciate any help or advice.
Mank thanks
Regards
Mike

Re: Teenager using internet late at night
Have you thought about taking your daughter's phone and laptop out her room at 10pm.

Re: Teenager using internet late at night
Mike I honestly believe that once your daughter understands the reason that she is tired in the morning is because of staying up later than your have advised, she will soon follow your rules. Remember us parents know nothing

Re: Teenager using internet late at night
This is why the shub is in our bedroom, and gets shut down for the night. And my daughter, the main culprit, surrenders her phone every night after switching it off. No obligation, just a way to help her get a good night's sleep.

Re: Teenager using internet late at night
The SH2AC has timed MAC filtering.
http://192.168.0.1/VmRgMacFiltering.html
I don't know if the SH2 has it, but if it does, you can block those devices between hours such as 22:00 and 06:00.

Re: Teenager using internet late at night
Because 13-year-old's don't know how to use 3G...
(Also, isn't this just going to be completely bypassed by VM's new WiFi sharing service?)

It's the same story just about every time this same question comes up. This is a parenting issue that can't be solved through simple technological measures, they are just too easy to bypass at that age.

To be honest that wasn't the question asked..the OP asked for a technological/software solution.

Like I said, it's the same story just about every time this same question comes up. The end result after page and pages of the same thing is the realisation there is no effective technological solution.

Re: Teenager using internet late at night
Anybody ever tried taking a smartphone / tablet away from a tired hormonal 13 year old and came out of it alive?
If my niece is anything to go by, nobody in the house would get any sleep!
