More Spam?
Sorry if there is a thread on this already. I have two email addresses with Virgin Media and my @Ntlworld one has moved over to the new platform today. I have now noticed spam reaching my Inbox throughout the day. Normally I would not have seen any of this probably thanks to Google's great Anti-Spam set up. I even checked the new webmail settings and it's all turned on to detect spam.
Anyone else noticed this as well? I seen a few people complain about it on the Virgin Media forum. I do hope they can get this resolved as it's going to be a nightmare if not.

Re: More Spam?
Does anyone know why when I deleted them if I look at my emails on my phone the same emails pop back as soon as I've deleted them?

If you download and delete them on a single device, they stay on the server. If you then access mail on another device then they are downloaded again.
To fully delete them, access the account by the webmail interface and delete them there.

Re: More Spam?
The amount of spam is crazy. I get about 10-20 emails every hour now offering me congratulations for Tesco and Sainsburys etc. Whatever virgin media have changed in the last week has allowed this spam to filter through.
Regarding the deleting of email, if using IMAP it should delete on both the device and the server unless it is setup not to do so. POP3 will download a copy of the email to your device which would not delete the email on the server. I have notice that sometimes you can delete and email and it pops back. Seems to only occur when deleting multiple emails quickly.

Re: More Spam?
Curious, I've set one of my ntlworld.com accounts to let everything through for client reasons ( I can't be assed for the moment to work out how to whitelist him)
No SPAM whatsoever.

Re: More Spam?
Before this STUPID update All my Spam via Gmail and gmx was taken care of. (i get my ntl mail via those) Now I'm getting 50 a day via my ntlworld. It's Crazy. I have to Delete them in both my gmail account and gmx mail account as well as Virgin media of which I get NO mail through except the first day of change over. I got 523 mail. How can we stop this spam or how do we get it to go into Spam folder Please.
P.S--I can NOT access my email via Virgin Media. I get "the connection was Interrupted" Try Again..Been having this for over a week now.

Re: More Spam?
Check your setting for 'SPAM messages' (click the cog icon).
(yes, copernob, I know that wasn't a great deal of help, but your inability to access Webmail is a separate problem.)

You're lucky, although it seems to be a bit random! I have 5 ntlworld.com email accounts, since migration 4 of them are fine with minimal SPAM the 5th, which is the root account, is getting over 100 SPAM emails/day.
Currently trying to get to advanced settings but keeps stalling, very frustrating worst webmail I've ever used!

Re: More Spam?
Even my root ntlworld.com account from when we first had BB (STB) and cable TV seems SPAM free. Strange that some are getting loads and others not.

Re: More Spam?
Thanks kenK...Just venting my frustrations Not had this kind of problem in 10 years until now. Surely there must be a Bright Spark at VirginMedia who can get the Spam to go into a Spam Folder like they do elsewhere. We only got to look in there to check that it is all spam or not.

Re: More Spam?
The SPAM filter on the new platform seems to be completely useless, I'm getting loads now I have been moved.

Re: More Spam?
The Virgin filtering is broken. Check the status page. They are trying to fix it.

It depends how you delete them. It's matter of synchronization and /or setup.
*you need to set it up so it deletes the messages from the server when you delete them
*Some clients you need to "compact" the folder or synchronize it.
In summary, it depends on the protocol (pop (?), imap, exchange, activesync etc) and the email client (thunderbird, etc)
