Police Must Not Bear Burden Of Cuts, MPs Warn

http://news.sky.com/story/1554901/po...-cuts-mps-warn

I firmly believe that the government cannot make any further cuts to the police.

We need more police or PCSO's on the streets. What has the police done wrong to the government, so bad that the government want again to make cuts of so may millions for next year.

They are already making cuts THIS YEAR of 400 mil, and yet they are closing police stations, merging police forces.

Yet, crime is going up - despite the government is saying that crime is going down.

We have reports of more and more stabbings, burglaries have gone up for the vulnerable

Police officer recruits are now being paid the same money as delivery drivers.

Would you join the police service if you had the chance. For some unkown reason, the government are picking on the police service.

Its ok for the government to pick on the police as they get 24 hour protection - but the public have to wait for the police to turn up

Re: They cannot make further cuts

They can make further cuts, they will make further cuts, what they won't do too much is cut the massive financial plughole called whitehall. Hell if they cut some of the desk warriors we could keep the proper one's be they armed forces or front line services but I'm sure they will get a good deal from a consultancy on cuts to make.

they could sell of the cars and vans that sit at the roadside waiting to pounce on motorists ,redeploy the overweight sarcastic plods that drive them, and put them onto the streets with a bicycle where they can do some good .

Less Civil Servants now since World War 2 and it's going to get less. Cuts are being made all round

The police and still on a relatively cushy deal in the public sector, compare their wages to nurses for example. Crime is at an all time low.

Not saying they should be cut but there are other areas i'd make more of a priority.

Re: Police Must Not Bear Burden Of Cuts, MPs Warn

A lot of police were just dishing out fines anyway. so I can't understand why the government would want to reduce that source of income.

and as long as the thousands of immigrants coming in are law abiding. then we'll be ok.
we'll just have to police ourselves if we have to.

Re: Police Must Not Bear Burden Of Cuts, MPs Warn

mrmistoffelees. Why is it that you like to cause problems with members.
Over the past ten years, l have applied five times to become a police officer.

Getting the application form etc. I work alongside the police service - helping vulnerable people.

I hear each day exactly what is happening in the police world

I was a special constable for 16 years. In November of this year the chancellor is expected to make further cuts to the police service up and down the country.
Merging forces to save money

If the public saw what the police have to do on a daily basis, then the public wouldn't give them a bad time.

Sorry if l am having a go, but l had an enjoyable time and wish l could have made the regular service. So l think l know what l am talking about.

Arthur he is simply asking for evidence to back up your absurd claims?

Also you applying for another job? surely not, and is it not that you are too old to join the force now?

Jolly good I have six years working directly with the police (operationally) (soco or CSI as they like to call themselves now) a good proportion of my friends are serving officers in Northumbria, Durham or Cleveland police and I know from talking to them the pressures they face.

I asked you to provide evidence to substantiate your claims, you haven't (no surprise there then!!) instead you accuse me of liking to cause problems with members, which members are these by the way?

I have an issue with people who make unsubstantiated claims that's all....

Re: Police Must Not Bear Burden Of Cuts, MPs Warn

All l am saying is read the press. It tells you in there what is happening. And as you work directly with police, then l admire you for what you do. And a credit to you for that.

I am going on what has been happening. And what l have read in the press and what l have been told.

I do know that that when Osborne announces in Nov, he wants MORE cuts to police forces up and down the country and to public services . This again is in the national press.

We should have MORE officers on the street

Do you believe everything you read in the press??

So if we should have more officers out on the beat, WHERE is the money to pay for them going to come from?
