Mass Spitfire/Hurricane flypast from Biggin Hill

Hoping to see some of this today at around 13.00.

Quote:
A flypast of World War II military aircraft will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the “Hardest Day” in the Battle of Britain.

Aircraft including 18 Hurricanes and six Spitfires will fly over south-east England to mark the date when Bromley's Biggin Hill came under attack from the Luftwaffe as it attempted to gain air superiority.

I dare say it'll bring back some vivid memories for a lot of people.

Re: Mass Spitfire/Hurricane flypast from Biggin Hill

Saw the whole event from a high point not far from where we live. They took off from Biggin Hill one by one then circled to form groups and flew off in different directions - sadly not over us. Just hearing the sound of the engines was quite moving. as was imagining that day (and those which followed) with countless dogfights in the skies above. Not far from here is a monument to a pilot whose Hurricane was shot down and crashed in fields during the conflict. As we watched I was thinking about him and all the other brave men who fought for their country at that time.
