Sikhs helping the homeless

Given all the inter-community tensions we hear about, it's a great pity more isn't made of this sort of thing:

Homeless people in the UK are getting free meals thanks to a centuries-old Sikh tradition.

"We come here because we get food... A hot meal. It's a luxury for me." John Davidson is 55 and homeless. He is one of 250 people who have just received a hand-out of hot soup, drinks, chocolate bars and other supplies from the Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team van parked up on the Strand in central London on a cold Sunday evening. The Swat team, as they're known, park at the same spot every week so a group of volunteers from the Sikh community can hand out vital supplies. Homeless people, who overwhelmingly are not Sikh, patiently wait in line to be served.

Be honest Osem, that doesn't make good news for those determined to try and cause tension between different cultures.

I have always found the Sikhs i know to be very helpful and caring.

I have a friend who i used to work with and he is a sikh and his family and they have been over for sunday lunch at my home a few times with my son and his boyfriend to and we have always had a brilliant time.

My Neurologist to do with my strokes is also a Sikh and he is a brilliant and wonderful guy.

I once asked my mate before he came over for lunch his views on homosexuality because of my son and i didnt wish to offend his family or him by inviting him over and he said exactly the same what is in this article here...
