Panic Friday...
Quote:
Police have been called to supermarkets across the UK amid crowd surges as people hunt for "Black Friday" offers.
Greater Manchester Police appealed for calm after attending seven Tesco shops, at which three men were arrested and a woman was hit by a falling television.
The force's chief constable called the issues "totally predictable" and said he was "disappointed" by shop security.

Doesn't surprise me either.
I was unlucky enough to be in our local Tesco a couple of weeks ago and witnessed a major and very unseemly scrummage over the reduced groceries section. Anyone would think these people were starving but the truth is they were mainly well dressed people filling their trollies with quite expensive branded products which had been reduced by a couple of pounds. Not exactly household necessities. The staff who'd been stacking the shelf were forced to retire and watch from a safe distance as people pushed, shoved and shouted in order to grab as much as they could.
I'm wondering how long it'll be before someone is seriously injured or worse as a result of this sort of selfish behaviour and IMHO the stores must bear their share of responsibility for not adequately controlling the situation.

They do it seriously over the water:

Two people were shot outside a Walmart in Florida today, one of a rash of fights, robberies and other incidents that have cropped up on one of the most ballyhooed shopping days of the year.
The shooting took place at a Walmart in Tallahassee about 12:30 p.m., said Dave Northway, public information officer for the Tallahassee Police Department.
Investigators believe a scuffle over a parking space outside the store escalated into gunplay leaving two people shot.

Re: Panic Friday...
I went to Game at midnight and there were about 40 or so people in the queue before me and at least the same number behind.
I got the Xbox One offer they had one and there were only 2 left after that. Most people were calm and friendly, the only annoying folk were the drunks that kept walk past asking what we were there for.
Seen photos of the queues outside some supermarkets and its totally crazy.

Re: Panic Friday...
Lots of press reaction to what happened in Tesco stores.... not a word about the other supermarkets.

Re: Panic Friday...
Frankly some of the behaviour l have seen on the TV news this morning is that of people who are deeply selfish and are prepared to do anything to get a bargain including fighting , trampling over other people and pushing disabled people out of the way and l find that appalling.

Re: Panic Friday...
Folks, it's worth bearing in mind that the "was" price only needs to have been offered for the same length of time as the "now" price. It's entirely possible that your mega black Friday bargain was only ever available at the higher price for 24 hours.

I got an Xbox one with Alien isolation for £269 from Amazon. I was quite happy with that deal.

Re: Panic Friday...
And again. how many millions of pounds worth of stock was taken out the front door, without going through the tills in all the chaos?
it was like a rehearsal for the riots again.
