Superhub WPS PIN

Hi all

I have a range retender which I tried to connect to my superhub 2 via the use of the WPS button.

Connected ok but could log onto wifi extender due to an incorrect password. I tried the one on the base of my superhub (WPS pin)....didn't work....I tied the normal password which I use for the wifi ...didn't work. I tried the passowrd on the bottom on the range extender...didn't work.....So bascially I lost now..........

Any ideas on what 'should' work....tried resetting the range extender but still no joy !

Would appreciate any ideas

Many thanks for your time

Regards

Mike

Re: Superhub WPS PIN

Depends entirely on what range extender you are using - which you haven't specified.

Thanks for replies...........

It is a Netgear Model: WNR2000

All the online support I found made reference to logging on via www.mywifiext.net but when I tried that and www.mywifiext.com but the page could not be found....

Appreciate any comments or ideas.

Regards

Mike

I am guessing you must have the v2 model as the v1 does not support repeater mode I would goto the shub2 admin pages and find the list of LAN clients. One of these should be the WNR200 assuming it has successfully connected. If you have the mac address of the Netgear you can use this to lookup the ip address in this list. Once you have the ip, try and access the (Netgear) admin page in a browser using this ip address .. here you would use the Netgear admin/<default password> credentials ..

It should be the password set on the repeater's own network, which if you haven't changed, ought to be the one on the bottom of the case.

the miwifiext.x domains won't work when the repeater isn't also operating as a router, as it relies on a fake DNS entry propagated by the router itself.

As per ianch99 though, if you've not got access to the router's admin pages try find it via the Superhub (which may or may not work). That page should give you the password...

No, if the Netgear has successfully connected to the shub2's wireless network, you should see the Netgear ip address in this list. Using this you can access the Netgear admin page. If you have reset the Netgear back to factory settings, the user/password is admin/password

Re: Superhub WPS PIN

I should point out that if it's in 'routed repeater' mode where you set a repeater IP in the repeater's web interface, then it may be on a separate subnet at which point you have to make sure to use different network names for the repeater and main wireless connection. If you've configured it otherwise it may be running with an invalid setup and not be connectable at all, so you'd just have to hold the reset button and do a factory restore.
