Paisley area

Hi, my Virgin internet was down for about 14 hours from 7pm last night (Saturday) PA1 postcode, just outside Glasgow. Tried switching on/off no joy. Wife kept saying it was the weather (did you see the Games from Hampden!) is that possible or was it just one of those things? Also, would the 789 virgin phone number tell us if an area was experiencing problems. Ta.

Re: Paisley area

weather has knocked out my Sky tv before because it is satellite but I have never had any weather related disruption to my VM service. It tends to be quite resilient because the majority of the cabling runs under the ground. I don't know about the 789 number but when you ring 151 and select the option for tech support, one of the option allows you to check for "known" area faults. The only problem is that if you have a service outage and ring immediately, they will be unaware of it and it won't be on the automated system. Furthermore, they like to deny that anything is wrong and it is only about 2 hours later when everyone else rings up (and sometimes not even then) do they register it as an area fault. They tend to like booking techs out to give everyone new modems

I take that when you say "was down for 14 hours" that it is now up?

Re: Paisley area

No 789 is virgin mobile. However I use my virgin mobile with the free 0845 number to call virgin via 0845 as I don't have a landline

Re: Paisley area

I've definitely known weather to cause issues with VM, but they should still get fixed. Rain can sometimes seep into the cabs, particularly the ones the put in the ground (I forget the name of them - I want to say CATV?). Heat can also cause issues with cabs overheating.

Re: Paisley area

What about homeless people sheltering inside cabs that have had their doors left open and taking out all the equipment to make space?
