cancellation of vm services...

Hi. Basically to cut a long story short I got vm put in in December however I have recently split up from my partner and can no longer afford to pay for it. How would I go about cancelling Within the 18 months with out termination charges?

Re: cancellation of vm services...

Your best bet is to call CS and explain the situation - use the "I'm thinking of leaving you" option when you call

Not much chance of that, maybe a friend can take your contract on

Three months into an 18 month contract, you will have to pay substantial penalty fees to cancel.

Best bet, as suggested earlier, is to downgrade, if allowed, to a cheaper package.

Re: cancellation of vm services...

Am not sure if this is possible or not, but I know someone who 'moved' from their property 1/2 way into a 18 month contract recently and because the area they moved to was not VM enabled, they were able to cancel without penalty.

Re: cancellation of vm services...

It's best to phone them up telling them that you're moving house on a certain date. and you would really like them to provide you with the same excellent service you currently get with them now.
and when she asks for the new address. give them one that they don't provide their excellent service to.
you can check which areas them are from their website.

then she will let you cancel.
and you are very disappointed tell her

Personally, I wouldn't try to lie myself out of a situation like this.

Sorry to hear about the break up of your relationship. In whose name was the contract signed? If your partner organised it, maybe you should forward the bill on. Is your partner willing to take/share responsibility for paying this?

Re: cancellation of vm services...

As others have said give retentions a call explain your circumstances tell them how much you can afford each month and they will work with you to get you down to what you can afford. Honesty really is the best policy. I've been in a similar situation i took vm out 2 months into my contract i lost my job. A quick honest phonecall to retentions explaining my situation worked a treat they got my package down to what i could afford. I now get tvm+ , bb 30mb and m phone for £35.99p/m. I'm sure they will help you anyway they can.

Is this what our country has come to?

Lie your way out of your contractual obligations.

Next step email the CEO office imo these guys are really good and normally bend over backwards to help. They also have more power than retentions etc tom.mockridge@virginmedia.co.uk
