Weird Price To Add Extra V HD Box To Essential Family Collection

I know VM's prices baffle some of us at the best of times but this is a strange one.

Currently on Essential Family Collection and wanted to add an additional V HD box to the package for our bedroom and I was under the impression that an additional V HD should only cost £6.50 extra per month. Nope, it would be £13.50 extra!

Apparently the Essential Family Collection is heavily subsidised so adding an extra V HD box takes it to £52.50 per month which is 50p more than the Premiere Collection!

Suffice to say that I stayed with the current package as don't need faster broadband to make the Premiere Collection worthwhile so £13.00/£13.50 is too much just for an extra STB.

So whilst I'd have been happy to pay the going rate of £6.50 per month for the extra V HD box, VM simply couldn't do it! Very bizarre!

Just received the latest leaflet from Virgin through the post. Noticed they have highlighted that the Essential Family Collection is a "limited edition Collection" and has been "extended due to popular demand".

I'd say if your happy with what you have, and can live without the additional box, keep your package as it is because it looks like it'll be vanishing soon.

It's definitely a great deal as I used to have the Essential Collection with the TV upgraded to XL which was £46.00 per month. So when they released the Essential Family Collection I couldn't believe my luck as it was the same services but £7.00 per month cheaper.

I think the Essential Family Collection is not meant to be changed as I'm under the impression that by adding the extra STB it knocks me back onto the Essential Collection which probably explains the £13.50 increase (£46.00 + £6.50).

So really appreciate the info Chad, I'll definitely stick with what I've got

I upgraded to this collection in January and will probably never change, I am now on 30Mbits broadband soon to be 50 and even the new SH2 is behaving, touch wood
