Samsung or SA box - which is best?

We are having an engineer in tomorrow to make a few changes for us. At the moment, we have a SA V+ HD box which we have had pretty much since launch of V+. It's ok, but is pretty old and plays up now and again. It's being moved to a different room.

I am just wondering if I should get it swapped out for a newer box or the Samsung box? Or should I just stick with what we have. One consideration is, the signal up to where it's being moved to isn't great (using old cable that we don't want to have replaced).

There's nothing recorded on the box that we would miss too much.

The sa is slower than the samsung. You can only get it swapped if its faulty

So neither is better accepting a poorer signal?

I can get it swapped out no problems if I want to.

I would change it to the Samsung box as it is miles better in every way... also any installation engineer would change it out just by phoning up... not sure about service as they have different rules...

Also we are now having all our equipment measured when we install to make sure its in 'spec', so the cable may have to be replaced to move it....

Re: Samsung or SA box - which is best?

I just got a Scientific-Atlanta Explorer 8300DVB swapped, due to Hard Drive Failure...

I got given the newer Samsung SMT-H3110, which does appear to be miles better compared to the older box, but the engineer did state that this box is no longer in production and that they have a known issue in regards to getting stuck in the booting up process, which will not get fixed due to being out of production... but VM have a work around in the rare occurrence that it does happen!
