Delay TV problem on certain channels.

I have found that for ages, delay TV doesn't work on BBC3 or The Horror Channel.

Not noticed any other channels, but there might be.

If either of the above channels are selected, after watching a recording, the underlying channel starts from the point where one returns to it if and it's not possible to rewind to an earlier point.

Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?

It's not just you. Weird fault!

If I get chance I'll investigate further tomorrow.

Re: Delay TV problem on certain channels.

OK, I've worked out what is happening. It affects the channels that don't broadcast round the clock. When returning from recording playback to a part-time channel, the software goes through the full tuning process to work out whether it needs to return to the live channel or the off-air slate. And a side-effect of retuning is that the delay buffer gets emptied.

Re: Delay TV problem on certain channels.

Thanks for finding out why this is happening Spiderplant.

Is there any point in me reporting this fault, ie are VM now concentrating on TiVo as the days of the V+ are numbered?

Why do VM bother putting on slates anyway, the channels have their own downtime slates

It's just a branding thing, I think, Richard.

I wondered if it was that, or thought that they might do it to free up bandwidth, in the same way that channels on Freeview do to save on bitrate. I'm not sure if VM slates are real pictures or MHEG/MPEG I think they call it.

I can understand why they do it for stations that channel share, as otherwise BBC3/4 would be showing childrens programmes in the daytime.
