Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
Several months ago, i stopped using direct debit with Virgin after changing my bank and called them to ask that they email me my bill each month.
The first month i received a bill they included a late payment fee, i never knew they payment was due as they never sent me an email to tell me the bill was due and what it was, they accepted this and removed the charge.
Last month the same again, i honestly never received a bill, yet the letter they sent me was also dated they day my bill was due and it had a late payment charge on it. On speaking to them, i was told the payment was applied because the bill was due on that date and they had not receive a payment, so sent out the letter.
I refused to pay this late payment charge and paid the remainder on the bill asking them to put a note to state that i was disputing the late payment fee and confirmed with them that another late payment charge would not be applied for this.
I received another bill today, this was sent on the 27th, my bill is due on the 26th. Again i received no email, but what they did this time, was apply another £10 late payment charge for the late payment charge from last month that i am disputing.
So what my question is, how can it be legal or ethical to apply a late payment charge on a late payment charge that was applied the earlier month and that is in dispute.
I did cancel my service with the last month over this already and went with BT.
Sorry, being new here i am not sure if this is the correct section, apologies if it is not.

Re: Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
i know this has nothing to do with your problem but why did you stop the DD when changing banks?? most DD's are updated automatically when transferring to a new account / bank, and if not when you called them to cancel...why not just give them the new details (almost sure you can change details in "my account" on the virgin homepage)
paying by DD also saves you money a month

Re: Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
You said you asked them to email you your bill every month. How often do you check your emails? If you use more than one email address, are you checking the main email account? If not showing up in an email client, have you checked the spam folder on the main Virgin website?
If you know the rough date now that payment is due, then logging into My Virgin Media should show the bill there to look at. For me, payment due 22nd, so bill is on MVM between the 3rd and 5th of each month. So for you, payment due 26th bill would around the 7th to 9th of each month.

I only have 1 email and i check both emails and spams over a dozen times daily as it's also my business email and i have not received any emails from them.
My bills are due on the 26th of each month, the letter i received today was dated the 27th to let me know that my bill is on it's was, and on this it had another late payment charge.
When i called them, i was told the late payment charge was for the £15 outstanding from last month, the £15 outstanding is a late payment charge i am disputing and refused to pay last month.
I was advised on the phone last month that another late payment charge would not be applied on this.
Also, when i called last month, i was advised that i did not have to pay the full amount that day and that they only require a minimum payment, but i decided to pay it all, minus the £15 i wanted to dispute.
So now, less then a month later, they are applying another late payment charge on that £15. Would that have also done this is i had only made part payment as they had suggested i could do.
Why tell someone they can only make part payment, when they well know that they would then apply a late payment charge for that person not paying in full.

Re: Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
i also like paper bills but i have always had an email saying my latest ebill is ready and when you look at it, it looked exactly like the one you got in the post.
Now i cancelled the paper billing, saved a few quid in the process and every month i download the .pdf file and store it in a folder named "Virgin Media Bills"
If needed i can print off a hard copy if i wanted one which would still work out cheaper than what they charged for paper billing

Re: Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
I think Virgin Media bills are confusing compared to other bills but nothing seems simple where Virgin Media is concerned...

This may not help your original problem.
You say you only have 1 email account so i will assume this is either an ntl/virginmedia email?
The reason i ask is in your first post you say you have left virginmedia and gone to BT? You also say that this email address is your business email address.
If your business email address is a virginmedia/ntl one and you have cancelled your service with them you need to be aware that you will eventually lose your email address as they will reclaim it after you have left.

Re: Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
No, it is not with either of these companies. My email was taken out with my business domain.
I am glad i went with BT now, should have done it sooner. It's cheaper, faster and has not cut off on me once.

Re: Late payment charge for a late payment charge.
I thought they normally sent the bill email to the virginmedia account associated with your account so you may want to check that if you still have access unless I am mistaken or they let you send to any account.

SnoopZ
They send the bill to what ever account you ask them to in the account settings. I get mine delivered to my *fundungeon.info domain email address without issues.
