Hub Price?
Just been on phone to Virgin to try and reduce my bill as many others have since the price increase. I am currently n 20mb which is to be upgraded to 50mb soon, got a letter confirming this in the post last week but the girl tells me the hardware I have is only capable of 20mb so if I accept the upgrade I will need to pay £20 for new super hub? Is this correct?

Re: Hub Price?
If you get the Hub as part of the speed upgrade itself i.e. when your area is enabled and you get the email, then it's £5.99 for P&P only - this price is new for this set of upgrades.
It's possible that if the upgrade is done ahead of time, it's possible it's counted as an upgrade instead, which normally has the £20 cost.

Re: Hub Price?
i dont want to sound like I am moaning Ben but when you have your meetings you might want to give them the feedback that there is a lot of inconsistency in terms of what customers are being offered;
1) Shub is £5.99 if you wait for free upgrade
2) Shub is £20 if it is counted as an upgrade
3) I am getting a shub 2 today for free (with an alleged upgrade to 152mbits) and I havent been told I am being charged for it but receiving a discount to make up for it. I was told the shub is free, no p&p and my bill is staying exactly as it is
So there are three different prices there and it shouldn't be a case of closing your eyes and pick a number for the agents.

Re: Hub Price?
There are only two prices when you get the upgrade i.e £5.99 if it's purely down to the speed change or £20 if it's part of a standard package change.
Any difference on that and it's agents applying a variation themselves.

Re: Hub Price?
I am looking forward to seeing my bill then. I am not convinced that my shub is coming today either because I havent received the confirmation email but I have just logged into myvirginmedia and it is showing as a self install on my account and says it is coming today.

Re: Hub Price?
Received the SH2 this morning and also been upgraded to the 152Mb. No cost and no new contract, they put £20 discount on my bill.

Re: Hub Price?
Interesting! The girl told me no free hubs £20 one off payment and my upgrade wouldn't happen till between Oct 2014 Feb 2015 even though my letter and account say next month. Best she said she could do is £10 for the hub and get immediate upgrade to 100mb, hub supposedly coming Friday?
I did manage to reduce my monthly bill by £15/mth which was the reason I rang in the first place so all was not lost but still feel bitter about having to pay for something I was going to get free.

Re: Hub Price?
nice that you got the speed upgrade in advance. I still don't think you should have to pay for the shub if you didnt have one already. The last time I had to pay for a modem was when 50mbits came out and they masked it as a £30 "activation" fee
