PC wont boot up after week away ???
Hi all
Just came back after a week away.
Turned PC on and fan started and PC made a couple of sounds and that was it....
Screen was black was a Dell Inspiron logo and a bar which was blue about 20 % across..... in the bottom right it gave 2 options F2 Setup or F12 Boot options (see picture attached) : Tried both back nothing happened.
Would really appreciate any advice or comments.
Many thanks for your time
Regards
Mike

Re: PC wont boot up after week away ???
It's probably lost the time. pressing F2 should take you into the settings to change it.
turn it off and try again.
Is the keyboard connected properly?

Go into the bios and look at the time. If it's well off, the CMOS battery might have died (easy to change).

Re: PC wont boot up after week away ???
Have you tried powering down at that point so that it reboots and offers you the chance to boot to Safe Mode (it could be an iffy driver that is locking up the boot sequence)?

Glad to help.
It would be nice if someone set up a searchable database for common PC faults... hmmmm

Bog standard AFAIK, they have a life of 5 years I believe. Old PCs had rechargeables, but long life lithium took their place.

Google's good but you have to know what questions to ask in order to get a relevant answer.
You guys are better than Google.
