Xbox 360 Console + Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures

Hi all

I would like to buy a Xbox 360 Console (250GB) with the Kinect Sensor including Kinect Adventures ...........

Looking at Amazon they don't sell it as a bundle....is if ok to buy the console and then the Kinect Sensor separately ie would it have any compatibility issues. It was just that the console on Amazon was labelled 2013 and Kinect Adventures 2010 ?

Sorry if it appears a stupid question but would like to check

Many thanks for your time

Regards

Mike

You can purchase the Kinect sensor separately, although it says compatible with the SLIM model.

Quote:
Please Note: This item is only compatiable with the XBOX 360 Slim console and connects by USB. If you have an older machine you will need to purchase a plug converter (3 pin to 2 pin)

Re: Xbox 360 Console + Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures

The Xbox 360 S (sometimes called the "360 Slim") and the newer Xbox 360 E (styled after the Xbox One) both have a dedicated Kinect port on the back, which is used for both power and data.

Older model Xbox 360 consoles (e.g. the Xbox 360 Elite) need different cables for Kinect: The Kinect connects to the console using USB, and the Kinect also has its own separate power supply.

When purchased in a bundle with a 360 S or 360 E, the Kinect doesn't come with the other cable and power supply as it doesn't need them.

When purchased separately, the Kinect definitely used to come with the other cable and the power supply (mine did)... however that Amazon page suggests otherwise now, so maybe MS can't be bothered anymore? The other cable and power supply are only needed if hooking it up to a model other than the Xbox 360 S or Xbox 360 E.

I would be careful before buying a newer model Xbox 360 E, as for some bizarre reason MS decided to reduce its connectivity compared to the Xbox 360 S and earlier models:

Got surround sound headphones or an AV receiver? The Xbox 360 E does not have a dedicated optical audio output (unlike the Xbox 360 S), nor can it output optical audio via the AV port (unlike the Xbox 360 S and earlier models).

Got an older TV that does not have HDMI? You'll be stuck with composite video (the worst connection possible), as MS changed the AV port from the type used on previous models, meaning you can't use component video or VGA.

Many thanks for the reponses

This are the 2 units I was looking at

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-250GB-C...words=xbox+360

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-Kin...tures+xbox+360

Slightly confused as the Kinect states at the bottom of addtional information : Please Note: This item is only compatiable with the XBOX 360 Slim console and connects by USB. If you have an older machine you will need to purchase a plug converter (3 pin to 2 pin)

So does that mean it won't connect to the Xbox360E ?

Many thanks for your help and time

Regards

The old Xbox 360 required different connections for Kinect, this doesn't provide that connection. The Xbox 360 s versions were made with the conection by default and so were the newer E-type consoles, page just hasn't been updated to recognize the E-type is for sale now.
