Returning to Virgin Media

Just wanted to ask a few questions. Hopefully our helpful in house Virgin employees will know the answer.

On the 11th December 2012 I called Virgin to give 30 days notice that I wanted to cancel my services. My last bill was dated the 23rd January 2013 for charges due during my notice period.

If I wanted to return to Virgin Media do I have to wait a full year before being classed as a new customer? If so is it a full year from the point I called to cancel or a full year from the point my services ended? Would be good to know as I'd like to get 50% off for the initial 6 months.

Cheers

The minimum period is 3 months before you are eligible for new customer offers again.

Thank. That's better than expected news

As a Virgin Mobile customer I'm getting offered a V+ box, instead of a VHD box, as my secondary box if I take the Premium or VIP Collection.

I'm thinking about the Premium collection. Half price for 6 months, £100.00 off for ordering online plus Netflix free for 6 months. It's a great deal when you consider BT Sports in HD is also included. A real budget alternative to having SKY Sports and SKY Movies.

I've got about about 7 weeks left on my SKY deal, so I'll need to consider giving 30 days notice real soon. If I wanted to I could cancel early. It would cost me about £100.00 however Virgin are giving me £100.00 off if I sign up online so I'm not going to be any worse off.

Just so you know...but 31 days in the minimum notice you can give Sky. You could actually give 365 days notice if you wanted to (policy change since August this year). However, you cannot change your package, order pay-per-view or use SkyGo within any notice period you apply.

So If you definitely want to cancel you can give your notice any time. They will try to tell you it's a 31 day notice period but if you state that you know about the new rules they should apply your notice anyway.

Any ETC applicable is only the amount of time you have left in the minimum package you could subscribe to for that period, so £21.50 per month or £32 per month if you are in a HD contract. For tel and broadband contracts it is much less than your normal monthly subscription as it's only allowed to be the cost they would incur minus any savings they would make by not having to provide that service anymore.

So it's very unlikely to cost anything near £100 with only 7 weeks left. £50 at most I'd bet.

Looks like you may be gearing up to be getting rid of that pesky old Sky sign from your avatar after-all Chad.

Looks like you will be getting a pretty decent deal. Good for you, if you can get the special offers from each provider, why not save yourself the money for very similar services!

Re: Returning to Virgin Media

I don't know how this works, but new customers may wish to explore up to £161.50 off VM through Quidco. I have not used this offer (having been a an ntl/VM customer for many years) but have successfully gone through the Quidco website for many purchases from other companies.

Re: Returning to Virgin Media

Hey all. Didn't want to start a new thread as I can use this one. Anyway to cut a long story short my Sky contract runs out 22nd January for broadband and phone and 31st December for TV.

MY 1ST QUESTION: Can I give 30 days notice on 22nd of December?

And I have spoke to an area manager for VM and he gave me an offer and I accepted it. He will phone me back 20th December for billing information etc. is this offer any good?

V.I.P package (XL TV, 120mb broadband, XXL phone)
Free 1tb TiVo box
Free NEW Super Hub
Free EXTRA recordable V+ box for other room
Free BT Sport HD and ESPN HD
And £150 credited to account

First 6 months at roughly £65 then £116 after that.

Does that sound like a good deal, like I said he has booked me in for 28th December install. With the discount I get free installation due to me getting £150 back.

Re: Returning to Virgin Media

That is decent I reckon. Can anybody explain why they're giving out v+ to new customers for multiroom?
