Why pay them wages ?
http://news.sky.com/story/1163154/mp...r-energy-bills
This has to be an April fools joke.
If MPs get this extra benefit, why pay them wages, we already hear that they claim for Newspapers, TV, flights etc.
When is it going to end. They all get a good wage, and do other jobs so why can they get away with expenses for anything else.

Re: Why pay them wages ?
what this country needs is a revolution lead by a ruthless dictator ,who will put the whole lot of em up against the wall
and then promptly resign and hand the country back to the democratic process minus the crooked spongers that call themselves mp's

Top Banana, Yes, but it still does not make sense.
If MPs can claim expenses for everything, then WHY pay them wages. Wasn't it last year that an MP claimed so much money on expenses to watch a porn channel.

Be grateful he didn't include a claim for a pack of tissues.

We are hearing the word revolution more and more now, it could be the start of something good. Hats off to Russel Brand for helping get the word etched in to the minds of more people!
Nearly all the politicians are living comfortably enough to not need to claim all these expenses at a cost to the tax payer. Greedy pigs.

So only millionaires should be able to become MPs?

I wonder if MPs' salaries and perks should be Means Tested?

Re: Why pay them wages ?
I am not surprised by this. The fact is that most of them, given the chance to claim expenses for anything big or small, will do just that. I really think it will never change.

So a basic salary, no perks, no expenses, no subsidised canteens and bars. In other words live like the people you are supposed to represent.
|
You mean the ones who DO get paid expenses, DO have subsided canteens, and STILL expect a salary regardless of how wealthy or not, they may be.

Re: Why pay them wages ?
When l worked at The Commons as a sub contractor. I saw what type of grub and drink they have, and l can assure you its not something you would buy from Tesco's or Morrisons.
I worked for a top notch company and l always saw the stuff and it made me sick that they are allowed this stuff.
Fortnum and Masons, Harrods, you name it thats where it came from. If MPs don't like it, it take thrown out out.
If anyone drives round London, go down Pall Mall, and you will see all the toffs coming out of the private clubs boozed up to the eyeballs.
They don't deserve wages, if everything is paid by us.

Re: Why pay them wages ?
We could get rid of half of them. That would cut the trough bill in half for a start.
