Want my Tivo box back
I called VM Sunday as Im getting sick and tired of the sound from my TIVO breaking up.
The response I got was :-
1. You haven't rebooted your box for 3 weeks and that you should do this every 2 weeks as the Modem gets full!!! After a discussion regarding "Don't fob me off" the operator told me they had a HND in electronics!! why I needed to know that I have no idea but its good they have such a qualification for phone answering. Anyway, I've never rebooted to box on a cycle like this and think there is something wrong if this is required.
2. Box rebooted and sound is ok for the time being. They then told me that one of the tuners had failed and was reporting errors so would book an engineer.
Half day off work, the engineer arrived and no faults on the box logged however now there is no network connection and the return path is going up and down like a yo yo. many supressors or what ever they are changed, a visit to the box down the road and all looks ok. 2 mins later there is no network again. So now im told the box needs changing which I don't want to change as there are some 20 programmes recorded and not watched. Box is changed and engineer legs it before the pairing has taken place but says it will be ok.
4 hours later and there is no PAK and also it keeps losing the network. Clearly there was nothing wrong with the old box. So what are the chances of me getting the old box back??

Basically zero I'm afraid. At least you have an empty modem now
What do you mean by no PAK? (MAK maybe? If so, that can take 24 hours)

Re: Want my Tivo box back
it'll soon be empty as its about to be launched out the window!!!
I just don't understand why VM feel the need to BS, if they haven't got anything worth say then shut up.
The guy tonight was pleased with himself that he solved my interactive content issue after getting me to reboot. He didn't understand why I wasn't pleased even though I told him this this was the 5th reboot since the install 4 hours ago. It does become apparent very quickly that the off shore call centre people do not posses the ability to read their script and listen at the same time.

Perhaps before VM send out their "next best thing since sliced bread" TiVo box's they should build a "reboot each hour" command into their "state of the art" software.....there you go,everyone would be happy,no more calls to offshore,no more red circles...etc,etc.

Actually, on a serious note, the Tivo itself is (in my experience) quite reliable and rarely needs rebooting. IIRC the last time mine was rebooted was when it hung a couple of months ago, shortly after the Tivo servers died a couple of months back.
That's not to say that all Tivos are incredibly reliable and therefore Wicked is wrong.. They aren't, and he isn't.
