Virgin are trying to get it on the cheap, and aren't prepared to meet SKY's valuation of the channel

Re: sky one HD
Who says Sky's valuation is reasonable. Maybe Sky don't want VM to have the channel regardless. One way to do that is demand an inflated price.
Fact is no one on here knows the actual facts. So as with so many statements (on this and many other topics) its pure speculation and guesswork.
Still can be somewhat amusing on a quiet day

It's probably on demand.

So, not on demand and not on iTunes. DVD/BD it is.

Actually, it is a fact that Sky offered Atlantic to VM for an undisclosed cost that VM refused. VM are quoted in several online articles as saying so.

Sky Atlantic programming changes regularly, like any other channel. Not everything on it at given time is of interest to everyone. As the OP has eluded, waiting for a DVD release is an option, which can be resold after viewing.
I think some of us need to get over the fact that live TV is the be all and end all of programme viewing. On demand will become king hence Sky's heavy investment in that direction recently. On Demand competition will be just as ruthless, but I think you'll find that Sky won't be able to obtain so many exclusives.

The key in the first part of your response is "undisclosed". No one on here knows if that "undisclosed" figure was reasonable or not. I think more importantly how commercially viable was that figure. At that cost was it viable to add free to maybe the XL package. If not and they had to sell it as a stand alone extra, would the commercially viable charge raise enough takers.
Agree with most of the rest of your post. In fact I find myself more and more using on demand. However, my belief is that most people from a viewing perpective will compare live TV. Especially, new prospective customers who only view ,or only have access, to live TV comparison data.

The last episode is the ending. They resolved the ongoing story line.
Poor viewing figures in the US, I heard.
