The £1.95 broadband price war
Tesco have today launched up to 14mb unlimited broadband for £2.00 per month if taken with a phone line costing £14.90. That's £16.90 per month for unlimited broadband with free UK Landline and 0845/0870 calls (Evenings & Weekends).

Hot on the heals of this new deal Directsave Telecom have launched up to 24mb unlimited broadband for £1.95 per month if taken with a phone line costing £14.75. That's £16.70 per month for unlimited broadband with free UK phone calls at evenings and weekends.

I think both of these are really good value deals for people who are not mega heavy broadband users. Your talking £24 and £23.40 for a full years worth of internet access. Brilliant!

Can you get broadband without a phone? Even Virgin hike stand alone broadband price up if you don't take a phone

I've been impressed by Tesco mobile, so dont write them off. Their customer service is pretty good and being so small they tend to be quite responsive on things like Twitter too.

Tesco mobile customers are getting an extra special deal. If existing Tesco mobile customers take advantage of this new offer, Tesco are giving them unlimited broadband for FREE for the whole year. They only have to pay the £14.90 line rental.
I hope both Tesco and Directsave Telecom do decent numbers that catches the attention of the press and their competition. A broadband price war can only be good news for us consumers.
I think people need to have a serious think about what they pay for and what they actually need. I used to have 100Mb broadband but downgraded to 16Mb about 6 months ago. Sure things take a little longer to download however my general enjoyment of browsing the internet, streaming video and online gaming has not suffered at all.

Smallworld are offering 15mb unlimited broadband free for 12 months if you take a £14.95 per month phone line with them.

Their 40mb broadband is only £5.00 per month for 12 months when taken with their phone line. Totally unlimited with 5mb upload speed.

Re: The £1.95 broadband price war
I can't get Tesco broadband for some reason, maybe you have to be able to obtain a certain speed when you sign up so you can't complain about them down the line or something.

Yeah, this sort of advertising needs to be reigned in on by the ASA. Also the ads that show a price but its only if you pay for 12 months line rental up front.
The idea for the providers is once the caller contacts them looking for the sub £10 offer, they can convince them to signup to the higher price anyway, with the chance of up-selling too.
