Re: sky bb unlimited
The main thing you need to consider is line length, when I switched from Virgin's 50 Meg service to Sky adsl my max download speed was a shade under 6Mbps and the upload speed was approx 1 Mbps, thats because I live quite a distance from the exchange.
However I got that speed 24/7 and it never slowed, got reduced, was managed in any way shape or form, so it's hourses for courses. From a gaming point of view I found my Sky adsl connection had virtually no upstream jitter which Virgin can suffer quite badly from.
There were only a handfull of times I craved for more download speed but not many, and since moving to Sky Fibre it's been pretty awesome tbh.

That sounds good to me...
I am around 818km from my local exchange... apparently that is really good. What distance are you from your exchange?

Re: sky bb unlimited
Main question, What are sky's download speeds for torrents like?
I would really like a good torrent speed...

I took a test online and it said 818km or something like that... I'm about half a mile if that from my exchange. (I live in a rough area surrounded by factories etc)

(Half Asleep)
I'm 1.18km from my local exchange.

Re: sky bb unlimited
As the crow flies I'm 750 metres away from my exchance and get 15.5mb down and 1mb up.
How far away is your nearest green cabinet?
Apparently the distance from your house to your nearest green cabinet is more important than the distance from the exchange. My nearest green cabinet is about 20 metres away.

Re: sky bb unlimited
As mentioned, your speed will depend upon the length of your phone line. The quality of your internal wiring can also be a factor.
As for torrents etc... Sky Broadband Unlimited is truly unlimited: Not just no usage limits, but also no Fair Usage Policy and no Traffic Management.

That's for FTTC (e.g. Sky Fibre, BT Infinity). With FTTC, because the link between the cabinet and the exchange is fibre optic, the limiting factor is the length of the copper wiring from your home to the cabinet.
For ADSL, the limiting factor is still the exchange distance.
