Re: Guam To Be 'Bombed' With Poison Mice
When will people learn. Snakes are evil. All the cool animals such as Tigers and Pandas are at risk of going extinct but the snakes somehow survive. There is no justice in this world.

Re: Guam To Be 'Bombed' With Poison Mice
So only cute furry things deserve to survive?
I personally view all creatures deserving of our care and concern..they all fit together to make the ecology of the planet work so well. We need snakes and cockroaches, wasps and ants.See what happens when all the bees die.

Re: Guam To Be 'Bombed' With Poison Mice
They should have used snake-eating gorillas. Then, when wintertime rolls around, the gorillas simply freeze to death

From the OP link
Quote:

Mr Vice said the goal was not to eradicate the snakes, but to control and contain them.

Bees are one of the most important animals on the planet so losing the Bees would be a lot more catastrophic than killing a few snakes problem is though I am sure there are plenty of other carrion animals that could eat the mice

Not arguing that.Just against indiscriminate culling of creatures and Damien's remarks about pandas and tigers.

Not indiscriminate! I specifically mean snakes. Evil, horrible, untrustworthy, smily little snakes. Is there ever a positive connotation to snakes? Nope. Snake's are always involved in misdeeds in literature and there is a reason for that, they're snakes!
I don't like snakes. You what happened the first and last time a human trusted a snake? We got kicked out of eternal paradise that's what!

You've clearly not read the link then. We're talking an invasive species that is not native to the island, and was unwittingly introduced 60 years ago with disastrous results for the native wildlife.
Quote:
The reptiles, which can grow to be more than 10ft (3m), have caused misery on the territory for 60 years, since they were unwittingly introduced by US military ships after World War Two.
Now there are serious fears they could slither on to planes at the US military base and hitch a lift to Hawaii, where they would decimate the island's wildlife.

See Damien's answer in post 11.He's only for the cute and furry. He's being speciest.
The word I was using was indiscriminate. The method used is indiscriminate.I'm not against culling any animal that has outgrown it's niche and it's numbers are out of control.I just don't care for the way it's been done.I'm certainly for finding ways to reduce urban fox numbers BUT I'd want it done with thought and care for the environment.
