Virgin Movies to get multi-device playback
Just seen this on Digital Spy
Quote:
Virgin Media is to introduce multi-device playback to its Virgin Movies service, giving users greater freedom over how to watch content.
The move is part of a new agreement between FilmFlex and Virgin Media to roll out next-generation services on Virgin Movies - the new name for Virgin's films on-demand section.

Re: Virgin Movies to get multi-device playback
It's a start but only a small one. Virgin need to get with the times and start allowing use through HTPC's then we'll be getting somewhere, where US cable companies have already been for a long time. Compact home networks are becoming defacto, having an ugly box under every screen is ... well ugly.
When i can stream Virgin TV through my PC's and apps like XBMC then i'll be happy, and up my package again.

If it's headed to fully functional and just like using a box on a TV screen then i'll be happy. Right now it's not, a 30 quid freeview tuner in a PC has more functionality than it.. heck even Youtube through the TV does.
I'm not pee'd at you btw in case it comes across that way but waiting seems to be Virgin's mantra these past number of years.

Re: Virgin Movies to get multi-device playback
Except it's not just down to Virgin Media. They have to persuade the channels and content providers to allow it. It's why for as many new content deals as they can, VM are adding streaming/online content rights to the agreements.

Re: Virgin Movies to get multi-device playback
This is the way all services will go , Netflix already do this and its excellent I love how you can start a series on one device and continue where you left off on another.

I think the new multi-device playback will just be for viewers on TiVo.
Virgin may use this as the way to get more viewers info the TiVo network.

Well as the app is only for TiVo customers, that would be partly a given
However I'd expect that the website access won't change and remain available for all TV customers
