Who owns the cable network in the road?

I am a new user of Cable Forum so may have posted this in the wrong place. For several years I have been connected to the Internet using a cable conection. The original provider was Blueyonder which was taken over by Virgin.
Now on checking I am told I can be connected to Sky Fibre. Does this use the same cable network that was laid in our road years ago?

Re: Who owns the cable network in the road?

VirginMedia cables are only used to supply VirginMedia services. Sky will use BT cables to supply you with broadband and telephone. If you have no BT cables in your home then OpenReach will put them in when installing Sky services.

Re: Who owns the cable network in the road?

exchange to cabinet is fibre. distance matters with regards to speeds youll get. distance from your home to the cabinet. you can check what estimated speeds you could get on BTs site. enter in your door number and postcode
