New Camera
I'm looking at a new digital camera, and was recommended this by a friend at work.
What do you guys think, not necessary from argos but justing using as a guide.

Re: New Camera
Do you need good movie performance or just after a snappy camera? that Panasonic is a nice bit of kit btw.

Re: New Camera
I've got a Sony Cybershot and it's very good. They do the DSC-HX20V which is comparible to that Panasonic (and also cheaper) http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007DDCVM2/
Or they've just announced the HX50. No GPS in the UK, but has got a 30x optical zoom http://www.sony.co.uk/product/dsc-h-series/dsc-hx50

Re: New Camera
My wife has a similar Lumix (in addition to a "bridge camera" and a Nikon D90 DSLR). Loves it.

Re: New Camera
I've had a Lumix camera before. Fantastic cameras.

Re: New Camera
I just bought the Fuji S2980 Digital Bridge Camera & Genuine Case "DSLR Style" Fujifilm Finepix from HERE Brilliant at the price.
They also have the Fuji S4200 Digital Bridge Camera "DSLR Style" Fujifilm Finepix available as well HERE
These are factory refurbished, mine was exactly as brand new with all accessories, the only difference was the box, it was a specially printed box from the factory stating that the camera was refurbished.
When the cameras were initially released the version 1.0 firmware had an issue so they were recalled. These refurbished ones have basically just had a firmware update.
Both cameras are actually very similar apart from the zoom.
Not as flexible as a DSLR but they are a lot better than my Pentax compact which cost twice the price.
Good seller to deal with, I paid for the first class del. and they sent it RM for next day before 1.00 pm.

Re: New Camera
18M pixels is a little excessive for most users. The resulting files will be huge.
Albeit old by today's standards I still love my Pentax WP5. Yep it's water proof to 20m without any external casing which is ideal for outdoor walking when you don't have to worry about it getting damp.

Re: New Camera
How odd, the TZ30 white & silver are the same price as the TZ40, while the TZ30 black is £100 cheaper - seems to have similar capabilities, just 14MP instead of 18MP, ah, and the TZ30 also lacks the Wifi/NFC capabilties that were added to the TZ40, and there are a few other improvements, but are there £100 worth between the TZ30 & TZ40 ????
The panasonic Lumix / Leica lens is highly regarded, though they do seem to have gone overboard with features (eg GPS).
I'd say the G3 System camera (also £299) looked interesting, but the extra lenses for it are absolute silly money
