Separating channels

I've got a sound problem, and it's either my nice new Soundbar, or the TiVo (or one of half-a-dozen other things, but I'm concentrating on those two to start with).

Is there a way of isolating each of the 3 TiVo channels? I suspect that two of them work fine, and that one might be breaking up on its audio signal, causing the sound problem.

Do the little lights on the front left of the TiVo box indicate which channel is being used, and if so, what would be an easy way to try each one, in turn?

Thanks.

Allen.

Re: Separating channels

The lights show how many recordings are happening, but don't relate to specific tuners, so they don't help here.

Instead, press the Info button, then press Down four times. You'll get a screen like the attached. Here I'm watching channel 620, and the other tuners are on channels 160 (which is recording) and channel 221 (which isn't). To switch between tuners, move the highlight to one of the two other tuners, and press OK.

By shuffling between the tuners, you'll be able to work out if one has a problem. But really I doubt it is a tuner fault. It's unlikely a tuner fault could affect the sound without also affecting the picture. Could it be only certain channels, maybe?

Re: Separating channels

Thanks for that info Spider, it all helps.

As it happens, I think it probably IS the soundbar that's on the blink - and a plug here for RicherSounds, from whom I bought it 2 months ago. They're going to come round and pick up the suspect item, take it away and test it, and replace it if it proves faulty; which is pretty good going. (I was dreading trying to convince Virgin that one channel on their TiVo was going wrong!)
