Cost of 0700 phone numbers for NHS Patients Line

It cost us over £13 for a 5 minute call to speak to patient in hospital on the 0700 NHS Patient Line.It also cost him similar sums to phone out. We lived miles away so it was not practical top visit him. The hospital did not like him using his mobile. What a con. it is bad enough being ill without being penalised financially by charging very high call cost a minute for telephone calls. He was very upset and has not helped his recovery. A case of the NHS extracting money from patients

Just use the mobile. Those bedside phones are, like you say, a complete rip off. I'm sure we've all been in hospitals and seen the staff using their mobiles. The anti-mobile business isn't around radio interference, it's in the contracts the hospitals have with the phone provider to try and create forced usage.
