Question Sky's 75% off for 12 months offer would save me

Morning,

Why cant virgin get close to this offer?

Am paying £110, no sports, tivo +2 HD boxes, BB 50 meg, phone.

So with Sky's offer, it works out like this....(£50 credit to start with +75% off)

£24.12 for everything package....the rest are not subject to offer, so are full price,
£10.25 multiroom
£20.00 Fibre optic BB up to 40MB (£50 install cost)
£14.50 Phone
£68.87 in total.

Yes am using my old sky box's but they work.

So I can save £42 a month

Phoned 150 to see if virgin can come close to that offer.

Not a chance, lady I spoke to even laughed when I said about the 75% offer, its not a new offer. Took me 5 minutes to google to find out its at least 6 mouths old. So why does virgin not have a strategy for this offer? With BT Infinity now in my area I have a choice of fast BB. So I can't even say "no one can match virgins BB speeds, lets stay." Even if I goto BT Infinity at £36.75 I get 50 voucher & 3 months at £20. Yes virgin is £32.40 & yes its an option to keep virgin BB.

So can any one offer me something close to £70 a month to stay with virgin? There's being loyal & then there's being stupid, £42 stupid.

PS
I would have to lose a virgin HD box to match sky's offer but am very close to doing that any way.

PPS

How does that compare to the VM Premiere collection, which is £58.90.

60Mb BB
XL TV
TiVo & additional V+ box
Phone rental & Talk Weekends

What will the Sky price be after the discount ends?

Still sounds like one helluva deal - he needs to check the post-discount price, though, and when it would kick in.

Re: Sky's 75% off for 12 months offer would save me

One could say that Sky must be desperate for customers/worried about VM if they are prepared to give a 75% discount. Either that or their prices are way over-inflated in the first place

Either that or they know as they wholesale the channels to Virgin Media they know eventually Virgin couldn`t reduce their package by as much as 75%.

Also does devalue Sky alot doesn`t it and so I do find myself agreeing with maybe over inflated in the first place.

To the op,

How long is the Sky contract term for, surely its got to be 18 months or so. It seems to good to be true. I also pressume you don't get HD for that price, not that you need it but it is free with VM.

It seems like a very good deal if you don't mind the upheaval of moving, and I can vouch for the broadband, it be reet good .

This offer is an old offer given to people after they leave Sky.

It's just Sky playing games with their subscriber numbers. They must be a little down on where they want to be at this point approaching the end of the first quarter next weekend so this offer rolls out for a few weeks to stop all those Virgin switchers leaving.

It is a cynical marketing ploy from Sky but unfortunately existing customers end up reading threads like this one (although that is less likely on a cable forum!) and decide they should cancel themselves seeking such offers.

Apparently these type of offers are to be phased out over the next few quarters but we'll see what happens with overall customer numbers.

This is not on a contract as the people are leaving Sky so can reinstate without a contract unless they need new equipment.
Another point with this offer is that you must take HD pack to get it so the prices will include HD.

It's an offer for subscribers who've left Sky the majority will have a box already , most new subscribers get a free box so I fail to see how you come to that conclusion. The offer makes perfect sense get them back onboard with a view to upselling them other products over time it's no different from VM I've had numerous offers off them to come back since leaving.
