Traffic management question
Hi,
Sorry for the noob question but i've read through virgin's traffic management policy a few times and still don't fully understand it. Basically i'm trying to find out if there are any top end packages available which are not affected by traffic management policies ?
Any help appreciated.

Re: Traffic management question
Infinity is your best bet for that unless you hold out for VM to bring out 200+ meg down which I'd guess would be unlimited to get sales

Whilst all speeds are subject to STM, the 100Mb/s package is about the same price as the 50Mb/s was and only gets speed limited to 50Mb/s.
So if 50Mb/s is fast enough for you then you can get that rate all day long.
Don't forget the fair use policy and traffic shaping (that both VM and others have).

Re: Traffic management question
You can't compare 100 with 50 because you can't buy 50 anymore.

Re: Traffic management question
He didn't. He compared current price for 100 with what 50 used to cost.

Correct and made the point that this service can be considered to be 50Mb/s unmanaged.

Need to be able to get 100Mb as my experience my area struggled to get 70Mb + most days.

Re: Traffic management question
which is marketing better?
50mmbit unmanaged service that can burst to 100mbit
or 100mbit which will reduce to 50mbit when used mdoeratly at peak times.
although to call it unmanaged they would also have to ditch the protocol shaping

Re: Traffic management question
Well we know what VM marketing consider to be better - sell it as 100Mbps unlimited and leave the STM and shaping to the small print.

Maybe that was the secret plan all along...
... "Upgrade" the 50mb service by making it burstable to 100, and keeping the same price, and advertise it as 100mb with a price reduction.
