Superhub : Superhub and Wireless

I'm still getting problems with my superhub. Every now and then all the wireless devices in the house stop being abnle to connect to the Internet, i.e. Laptop, 3 iPod touch, 3 Kindle, and an iPad.

Turning the superhub off and on sometimes fixes it. Sometimes you have to change the wireless settings on the router, and then back to the original ones to fix it.

sometimes I just give up and it's working again the next day

I should point out that all the wired PC's work fine.

I did get a mail from someone about sending me a replacement router - but nothing received so far.

All these problems started when I got the superhub, the old router / modem combination worked a treat for years and years.

Buy a router and change the superhub to modem then all your problems will go. If youve still got your old router it will probably work.

If you are on the R30 firmware, which you will be if you didn't sign up for the R36 beta test, then these are known issues. As of next Monday the R36 firmware is being rolled out nationwide.

I am on the beta test and it is a vast improvement. If, after the firmware upgrade, you are still having problems call for a replacement Shub.

Thanks I had a really nice router that I paid loads for, after getting the superhub I sold my nice simultanous dual band router for half of what I paid.
I'm not about to fork out hundreds again.

I see from the status screen I'm on V5.5.2R30
How do I force the router to upgrade?

You can't I'm afraid. However, as I said the R36 firmware will be going out from Monday. I doubt that everyone will be upgraded immediately but at least it's in hand. Some of us have had R30 for what seems like forever lol

That's great dude, that is like me selling my 50" Panasonic 3D HD Smart TV because VM wanted to give me a free 25" Bush TV.

I know you are new the forum but there is a neverending debate about the shub and you'll get a tonne of us saying it is rubbish (for one of the many reasons you have stated above) and you'll get other saying it is the best thing since sliced bread. I am of the former and as far as I am concerned it hasn't worked properly since day 1 hence the numberous firmware updates. The new version of firmware coming out does fix some major problems but at the end of the day you will still be better off putting the shub in modem mode and buying a proper router which you know is going to work.

yes maybe it was a mistake getting rid of my Cisco router when VM gave this the Superhub. I did try getting both to work together, but failed.
I thought that at that time the Superhub did not support modem mode, but it may just have been my lack of skills setting it up.

Modem mode wasn't available from the GUI for about a year after release. Your router should have worked OK with the superhub though. If it didn't then it would have been a setup error on your part. Modem mode is far easier - the router sees the public IP and there can't be 2 DHCP servers running.
