How to get your Samsung TV remote to control Virgin Box
Hi there,
I hope someone can help me. I have recently bought a 40 inch Samsung smart LED TV. I have connected the TV with my virgin media box and virgin remote works fine in terms of changing the program and to control the volume etc. The question I have is that when I use my Samsung remote to change the program, it display a message 'week or no signal'. To get to back the program, I then have to press 'source' from Samsung remote and select 'EXT' option and then it bring the video back.
I would like to know if Samsung remote is compatible with Virgin box so that i can change the problem from Samsung remote rather then Virgin, is there anything I need to do to rectify this problem.
Thanks
Mike
P.S. Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong thread.

Re: How to get your Samsung TV remote to control Virgin Box
You won't be able to get the TV remote to control the Virgin box. However, the TV shouldn't respond to remote control presses intended for the Virgin box. If the TV is connected to the internet, get it to search for software updates. Failing that search on Samsung's support website for an update, or contact their Technical Support department.
What is the exact TV model, and which Virgin remote do you have? All the remotes are pictured here.
ps. Welcome to the forum!

If you are using the channel buttons on the Samsung remote it will swap to the Freeview tuner, which if you haven't got it hooked up to a terrestrial aerial won't have any channels stored and will cause the error message you see to come up
As far as I know the latest Samsung remotes can only be used with Samsung retailed equipment - they stopped trying to make them universal remotes a while back

I think if it has a USB port you can down load to a stick & update that way.

Re: How to get your Samsung TV remote to control Virgin Box
I see the model is a Smart TV , if you have it connected via Ethernet or wifi to your router you should be able to update the software somewhere within the menus , failing that you can download the latest firmware off the link below and copy it to a USB memory stick , there should be a help file to tell you how to.

When you say "Samsung remote", do you mean the TV remote? If so, this is the problem. You need to use the Virgin Media remote to change channel.
