TV Picture When Using BB
Virgin Media TV & BB
V Box HD
When using your BB does this affect the picture quality SD OR HD on TV? for instance if you were downloading and watching either live TV or catchup service?

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
It should have no effect on your television service so if this is happening you probably need an engineer as it will be a fault.

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
It wasn't affecting me, I was just asking as someone mentioned similar on another forum, and just wanted you folks to confirm what I originally thought, thanks again.

Actually just checked the original poster, he was saying that while recording on Tivo was killing his broadband, would this have resulted in the same answer or is it different for the Tivo?

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
TIVO has its own 10Mb connection so he has a fault.

So I take it the V HD box has its own connection as well, being that using the BB wont interfere with the TV picture whether live or on catch up?

VHD doesn't have an internet connection.

Ondemand uses your standard connection but will not work if the is an issue which shows when trying to use Ondemand but again should not have any effect on your broadband connection.

It does not have its own standalone connection as with a TIVO set top box but Ondemand comes down through your broadband connection.

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
So if I were downloading from the BB service on computer at the same time as watching on demand from a V HD box, they would both be coming down the same line?
And if this is the case does the data from on demand count towards your traffic data, or is this separate as its for TV?

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
Yes they would be sharing the connection. The on demand content does not count towards your BB usage.

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
They would be coming down the same line, but at different frequencies. They are totally independent.
TV/VOD usage doesn't affect your traffic data.

Re: TV Picture When Using BB
But if your upstream isn't strong enough this can have an effect when you are watching on demand and downloading, one or both may not work properley.

How can I tell if the upstream is strong enough? You referring to its power level?
