Virgin Blackberry Intenet Service

I recently acquired a Blackberry Curve 9300 ona 24 month contract from Virgin.Setting up my various email accounts was no real problem and I did that from the device. However the Blackberry website support pages refer to a number of services like Auto Aging and reconciling emails which require me to change settings on the Home Page, within the BlackBerry Internet Service web site of my service provider.

When I go to that website, which I find difficult to find through Google, I am asked either to log in or to create a new account. I cannot log in as I do not have a password which works.I ask for a password and I am told that it has been sent to my device. The message received at my device says that I do not have a password and so have to use my device to access the Blackberry Internet Service!

I cannot create a new account on that website even although I have my PIN and IMEI numbers- in this case I am also told to set up an account throgh my device; but there are no instructions as to how I do that. The Virgin mobile site offers me no help.

Can I ask if I need to create an account at the Virgin Bleackberry Interent Service and if so how do I do that.

Many thanks,

Craibh

I found this thread:

Eventually though, I came across a really useful thread where the starter was told what to do by Virgin Media tech support. The answer was to send a text saying “yes” to 789333. Wait 30 minutes until you get acknowledgement and then reboot the phone by doing a battery pull. If successful, the gprs logo should turn to GPRS. Nowyou can register on the BIS.

If this does not work you will need to call VM.

Re: Virgin Blackberry Intenet Service

Many thanks.I tried this twice and on each occasion I immediately received a message that "Short message transfer rejected"

I have emailed "the Team" at VM but having been a customer of Virgin since the NTL days I shall be surprised if I receive a timely and useful response. As a result I was aware of the hazzards of using Virgin as my mobile supplier. However I was really relying on the Blackberrry name as I thought that Blackbery would insist that Virgin provided an adequate service because at the end of the day it is really Balckberry, not Virgin, who suffer reputational damage.

Re: Virgin Blackberry Intenet Service

Does your contract have the BB service on it?

Re: Virgin Blackberry Intenet Service

I assume so.I have the BB on a 24 month contract from Virgin .The curious thing is that all my email addresses work, I have managed to syncronise my home diary with my BB one which required use of the BB desktop software and I appear to have a form of GPRS- there is a map which tells me where I am.

Wi-fi works well. I have not tried the BB messenger service .All I think I am really missing is this ability to adjust the settings which , it appears can only be done at the BIS website.
