CHECK YOUR SETTINGS ON YOUR Tivo

I have just checked my settings on my TiVo box and I came across the setting to i.d. what your TV scan rate is (i.e. 720p 1080i 1080p) mine was set to 1080i - which was wrong my TV scans at 1080p and 100 MHz (p meaning progressive scan). The automatic setting kept setting it to 1080i so I did a manual setup. It is now set to 1080p and 25 frames per second and I now have a much better picture.

Has anyone else came across this problem.

Just going to check the out of sync problem with Sky and ITV HD channels. Let you know if this has solved my problem by doing the above!!!

I think I have posted in the wrong forum.... should have gone into installation forum...

Re: CHECK YOUR SETTINGS ON YOUR Tivo

How have you managed that? I only get the option to select 1080 p if I also select 1080 i, and the result is, since 1080 i is the maximum broadcast r,esolution in this country, that it just defaults to 1080 i, even with 1080 p selected.

Re: CHECK YOUR SETTINGS ON YOUR Tivo

I never new they only broadcast in 1080i... So whats the point of putting 1080p in the set-up then... Perhaps I hit my head a bit to hard yesterday and only imagine that I am getting a better picture. Time to change ones glasses me thinks.

The box is capable of it, it's just not used. It's to future-proof the box I think

Re: CHECK YOUR SETTINGS ON YOUR Tivo

The 1080p Pass through option is left over from the US service.

There is no point trying to select it as VM HD is 1080i so thats the best option to select even if your TV is 1080p.

Re: CHECK YOUR SETTINGS ON YOUR Tivo

There is no harm in also selecting 1080p. It means if any 1080p content is added (eg.on VOD) you'll get the full benefit.

Only if it's 1080p/24 though.

It's 1080p/25 on the VM TiVo. (The help screen used to say 24, but it's now corrected)

Would that even work on a UK TV set?

Maybe not older ones, but 1080p25 has become a European standard. It's also used on FreeviewHD.

Most TV's are multi-standard via the HDMI/SCART/COMPONENTS it's only the DVB-T/C/S module that tends to be PAL or NTSC only
